What Is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer pilates is a form of resistance-based exercise performed on a specialised machine called a reformer. Using a system of springs, straps and a sliding carriage, the reformer allows for a wide range of movements that can be carefully adjusted to suit your strength, mobility, and goals.
Unlike mat pilates, the reformer provides both resistance and support, making it an exceptionally versatile tool for building core strength, improving posture, increasing flexibility, and supporting rehabilitation from injury. It is suitable for a wide range of people, from complete beginners to those returning to exercise after injury or surgery.
At Physio Vineyards, our reformer pilates classes are delivered within a physiotherapy and sports injury clinic, meaning you have access to clinical expertise that many pilates studios simply cannot offer.

Small-Group Reformer Pilates Classes in Knebworth
Our reformer pilates sessions are kept intentionally small , with a maximum of just five participants per class. This means your instructor can give meaningful attention to your technique, ensure you are moving safely, and adapt exercises to your individual needs as you progress.
Every class is led by Dale Brooks, a qualified pilates instructor with a background in soft tissue therapy. Dale’s understanding of how the body moves, and how it compensates when something isn’t right, makes him exceptionally well placed to guide you through each session with confidence and care.
Dale works closely with our on-site physiotherapy team, meaning that if you are managing a specific condition, recovering from an injury, or have been referred by one of our physios, your sessions can be informed by that clinical context where appropriate.

What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first class will always begin with a dedicated induction. This gives you the time to become familiar with the reformer equipment and feel confident and safe before getting started. It also gives Dale the opportunity to understand your goals, any injuries or areas of concern, and how best to support your progression.
Whether you are new to pilates or returning after a break, you will never be thrown in at the deep end.
