Foot and Ankle Injuries

Given that we are bipedal creatures, having an injury in this region will always be difficult to manage. There are a few different conditions that can become very troublesome. Here are a few of the more common ones that present to physiotherapy: 

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendon strain/tendinopathy 
  • Shin splints
  • Stress fractures
  • Ankle sprains 
  • Post operative Achilles tendon rupture repair

Alleviating pain and swelling, and advice regarding management of the injury will be addressed in the short term. Being able to walk, run and continue being active without falling or stumbling in the long term is why a significant part of the physiotherapy treatment journey will include exercises to regain strength and stability in the foot and the ankle.
